PODCAST: Arkansas Basketball is going to take some time to rebuild, Elway knows Tebow is here to stay
The Razorback Basketball program needs some help. Attendance is down, fans are concerned and the after all the program has been through there has been little good news yet when it comes to what the team is and is not capable of this season without their best player and little veteran leadership from Marshawn Powell. John Elway (pictured here when he played a double in Back to the Future II) knows Tim Tebow is a long term solution because of what he does for Denver’s relevancy in the NFL nation-wide, even if he won’t admit it. We break down the NBA before Free Agency starts and the NFL playoff picture. The Texans may have been super bowl contenders without all the injuries, but the just had to sign Jake Delhomme. I can’t take any team who signs Jake Delhomme seriously. As MJD of Yahoo Sports Shutdown Corner put it, “Jake Delhomme isn’t a quarterback, he’s a cry for help.” We talk with John Engleman of KFSM Channel 5 and Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports about the bowl picture and what Hogs are and aren’t going pro.
Arkansas is not the greatest on defense. But neither are several teams ranked ahead of them. So why is Arkansas’ defense made such an issue of when Oklahoma St, Oregon and Clemson’s defenses aren’t? Tom Brady proves why he’s elite and Romo proves why he isn’t. Is a big picture approach making doing some of the smaller execution things more difficult for the Cowboys? Is a lack of supports for Primetime at the Palace an indication Mike Anderson doesn’t have adequate support from the fans? I don’t think so. Chris Bahn and Robbie Neiswanger talk Razorbacks and John Davis of the Oxford Eagle previews the Ole Miss game.
It had to be Butler. If Rotnei Clarke was going to play for any other coach than Mike Anderson, it had to be Brad Stevens. While many hog fans will have to fight the urge to root against Clarke because he left the fold because of burnt bridges and too many broken promises.
It wasn’t Anderson’s fault, and it wasn’t Clarke’s fault. But there was really no other option at the end of the day. While his time at Arkansas should be fondly remembered, the years ahead of him could be his best yet.
On today’s show Razorback head basketball coach Mike Anderson stops by to talk about what leadership means for his basketball teams, as well as his thoughts on what the one-and-done rule has done to college basketball and academics. Coach Anderson believes that while it has created parity in basketball it has made a mockery of academics. We also talk about Spring Practice, as there is now no official starter at quarterback and Brandon Mitchell and Tyler Wilson are splitting time with the first team this spring. Should college players get paid? It’s an issue without an easy solution, as college athletic departments, broadcasting companies, and even the NCAA itself profits massively on their talent, student athletes are hardly rolling in cash… unless of course the University decides to pay them anyway right? Ryan Mallett is continuing to get hammered by the national media for things he may or may not have done – also known as unsubstantiated rumors. Why does this double standard not being pointed out more often?
On today’s show we talk about Mike Anderson’s press conference/pep rally and how he handled questions about his exit from Missouri. The Final Four has been decided. Who is the best in the field? What can Kentucky do to win it all? Is Butler the best team in the final four? NBA MVP has already been decided? College Football BCS could be validated by VCU and Butler making the Final Four right? WRONG! Cardinals fans, don’t hate me, but you aren’t making the playoffs this season. On today’s show Chris Bahn of Arkansas Sports 360. Soren Petro of The Program on 810 WHB Kansas City talks Bill Self, the Royals and Mike Anderson.
PODCAST: Anderson’s next move, Clarke to transfer? Spring Football in the SEC, What’s wrong with Rondo?
Today we talk about Mike Anderson’s character, and why so many in the national and Missouri media are on his case about how he left Missouri. We talk about rumors Rotnei Clarke wants to transfer and whether or not he should use his own voice to convey his intentions. Spring football is up and running and it’s business as usual right? What are the questions fans should be asking about their teams this spring? Chris Bahn of Arkansas Sports 360 talks about Anderson’s fit at Arkansas. Pete Fiutak of College Football News talks about spring football in the SEC; who’s hot, who’s not?
Today’s show is all about Mike Anderson. Although we did get to talk some about the NBA, Chicago Bulls in the East and two big predictions about the upcoming MLB season. Kurt Helin of probasketballtalk.com talks NBA. Chris Bahn of Arkansas Sports 360 talks about the hire.
Today’s show showcases the most recent developments in the Mike Anderson to Mizzkansas saga. We talk about why message boards, while moderately entertaining, are absolutely worthless sources of information, insider or otherwise. Chris Bahn of Arkansas Sports 360 comes on to talk about populated areas… and basketball. John Engelman of KFSM 5 claims Mike Irwin wears stilettos around the office while he breaks stories about Mike Anderson. Eric thinks Dwight Howard should be the MVP of the NBA. I think that’s ridiculous, which is why I won the argument with my candidate, Derrick Rose.
On today’s show we talk about the latest on Mike Anderson and his status in Arkansas’ coaching search. We also discuss why the incoming NFL rookies will side with the NFLPA every time. No one likes a company man. The NFL has not ruled out the possibility of playing next season with replacement players, should the current lockout situation worsen. Robbie Neiswanger of the Arkansas News Bureau joins us to talk about Arkansas’ coaching search. Bruce Pearl is out at Tennessee, which job is a better, Arkansas or Tennessee?
