PODCAST: Put Nolan’s name on Arkansas’ court

@TJCarpenterShowtj@hogsportsradio.com – The University of Arkansas has done many things to honor Nolan Richardson’s contributions in basketball. But even after pep rallies and a documentary, isn’t it time to honor Richardson in a more permanent way? Putting his name on the floor would be the final piece of lumber laid to bridge a gap that once distanced once of Arkansas’ and College Basketball’s most legendary coaches. Chris Bahn discussed it with us, along with Blake Eddins and John Engleman of KFSM Channel 5. Also, we talk about the long term affects of conference realignment and what it means for the top of college football and the BCS. Does Roger Goodell make too much money? Roddy White thinks so.

PODCAST: Arkansas’ will reap their success on the field in recruiting with next class

@TJCarpenterShowtj@hogsportsradio.com – Arkansas has traditionally been in the bottom third of the conference despite doing well nationally in recruiting. Many fans are frustrated with a lack of improvement in that department when it comes to how Arkansas is seen by most national recruiting services. All that will change with their next class. Anderson gets ready to take on another opponent on the road in hoops. Linsanity reaches Northwest Arkansas, but lets not make this about race, because it isn’t. Chris Bahn talks about Nolan getting the red carpet treatment for 40 Minutes of Hell. Kurt Helin breaks down Linsanity. Alex Mortensen talks about this past weekend’s combine.

Arkansas gets out-recruited but not out-played. The Razorback Basketball team looks for their first road win… again. Eli Manning proves that winning is about more than legacy. Do Mizzou and the Aggies know what they have gotten themselves into? I don’t think so.

PODCAST: Outrage over Ohio State’s weak sentence; How to get Hog fans believing in Basketball again ; Tebow has the right backing

@TJCarpenterShow tj@hogsportsradio.com

Today on the show we talk about the recent ruling to give Ohio State a one year bowl ban and loss of scholarships and how the NCAA didn’t do nearly enough to punish the program, how it is essentially an indication of corruption in the Bowl system and the NCAA in general, and the hypocritical era of college football. Tim Tebow now has John Elway’s backing, but no one else. Jim Harbaugh proved he should be considered an elite coach in the making. How does the Razorback Basketball program get fans to believe again and go to the games? We talk with Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, Otis Kirk of 24/7 Sports, and John Engleman of KFSM Channel 5.

PODCAST: Paul Haynes Interview; Braun PED use; Dallas LA NBA Free Agency Strategy

@TJCarpenterShow tj@hogsportsradio.com

Today on the show we discuss the differences between new defensive coordinator Paul Haynes and former defensive coordinator Willy Robinson for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Ryan Braun got busted for PED use, so why does no one care about the NL MVP using story? Dallas and LA have emerged in my mind as the two lone legitimate contenders for massive free agents Dwight Howard and Chris Paul. We talk with Russ Mitchell of College Football News about the hire of Paul Haynes as well as ESPN’s role as an entertainment entity. (A MUST LISTEN) We also talk with Paul Haynes himself on the show today. Mike Jaques of ABC 40/29 and I discuss BJ Young’s emergence as the star of Arkansas’ Basketball team. You can check out exclusive interviews and TJ’s Rant of the Day at www.hogsportsradio.com.

The Cowboys continue to implode… it’s December so what else is new? Ryan Braun tested positive for PEDs. Robert Griffin III won the Heisman and restored my faith in the Award. Matt Moore of CBS Sports talks about the NBA trade landscape as we approach the beginning of the season.

PODCAST: The BCS got it right, but it’s still broken

Today we talk about the broken BCS. They may have gotten it right this season in the Title game, but they got it wrong everywhere else. The BCS has turned simultaneous money-grabbing and creating bad matchups into a Zen-like thing. Tim Tebow continues to win and many don’t know why. I think it is very easy to explain. Arkansas gets back from their basketball field trip in Connecticut. Is Arkansas’ Cotton Bowl matchup a good or bad thing for the Razorbacks? Ben Kercheval of NBC Sports, Chris Bahn of Arkansas Sports 360 and Doug Farrar of Shutdown Corner all join the show to discuss today’s topics.

PODCAST: Arkansas Basketball is going to take some time to rebuild, Elway knows Tebow is here to stay

The Razorback Basketball program needs some help. Attendance is down, fans are concerned and the after all the program has been through there has been little good news yet when it comes to what the team is and is not capable of this season without their best player and little veteran leadership from Marshawn Powell. John Elway (pictured here when he played a double in Back to the Future II) knows Tim Tebow is a long term solution because of what he does for Denver’s relevancy in the NFL nation-wide, even if he won’t admit it. We break down the NBA before Free Agency starts and the NFL playoff picture. The Texans may have been super bowl contenders without all the injuries, but the just had to sign Jake Delhomme. I can’t take any team who signs Jake Delhomme seriously. As MJD of Yahoo Sports Shutdown Corner put it, “Jake Delhomme isn’t a quarterback, he’s a cry for help.” We talk with John Engleman of KFSM Channel 5 and Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports about the bowl picture and what Hogs are and aren’t going pro.

PODCAST: Arkansas tries to focus in the face of tragedy, Rollin’ with Nolan, Elway vs Tebow?

Arkansas gets ready for LSU right after the sudden and tragic death of Garrett Uekman, a TE for the Razorbacks. This is likely the biggest game in program history for the Razorbacks, not only does it mean a trip to the national title, but it also means Arkansas is set up to compete as an elite team in the SEC for the foreseeable future. Nolan Richardson is on to talk about the Razorbacks Basketball season and life without Marshawn Powell who is out for the season with a knee injury. Robbie Neiswanger of the Arkansas News Bureau talks about the game on Friday, and John Engleman of KFSM Channel 5 talks about whether or not a big game from Tyler Wilson could punch his ticket to New York for the Heisman race. Also, is John Elway’s tebow criticism wearing thin in the city of Denver? Does he have a point or is it just sour grapes?
