PODCAST: Arkansas tries to focus in the face of tragedy, Rollin’ with Nolan, Elway vs Tebow?

Arkansas gets ready for LSU right after the sudden and tragic death of Garrett Uekman, a TE for the Razorbacks. This is likely the biggest game in program history for the Razorbacks, not only does it mean a trip to the national title, but it also means Arkansas is set up to compete as an elite team in the SEC for the foreseeable future. Nolan Richardson is on to talk about the Razorbacks Basketball season and life without Marshawn Powell who is out for the season with a knee injury. Robbie Neiswanger of the Arkansas News Bureau talks about the game on Friday, and John Engleman of KFSM Channel 5 talks about whether or not a big game from Tyler Wilson could punch his ticket to New York for the Heisman race. Also, is John Elway’s tebow criticism wearing thin in the city of Denver? Does he have a point or is it just sour grapes?

Arkansas wide receiver and true freshman Marquel wade was suspended for the South Carolina game for a hit on Johnathan Krause during the Vanderbilt game. There is no question he should have been ejected for his hit, but did his hit deserve a suspension? It’s a legitimate question. Robbie Neiswanger talks about the South Carolina game, Chris Bahn briefly chimes in on Wade, John Pennington defends the decision to suspend him and John Engleman talks about the woes of being a Rangers fan in media members clothing.

Arkansas is not the greatest on defense. But neither are several teams ranked ahead of them. So why is Arkansas’ defense made such an issue of when Oklahoma St, Oregon and Clemson’s defenses aren’t? Tom Brady proves why he’s elite and Romo proves why he isn’t. Is a big picture approach making doing some of the smaller execution things more difficult for the Cowboys? Is a lack of supports for Primetime at the Palace an indication Mike Anderson doesn’t have adequate support from the fans? I don’t think so. It was just another day at the office for the Razorbacks as the romped past Auburn. Many people were surprised by the final margin of victory. I saw it as a great team doing what they were expected to do at the beginning of the season.

But as seasons progress, expectations change. Arkansas has been a team who expected to do less and less as the season progressed. Injuries and disappointing results — particularly the lopsided loss at Alabama — put a lot of fans in wait-and-see mode. All that changed in the fourth quarter against Texas A&M. Read more »
